New Blood, Old Ways

Bike Klub is in a "Rebuild" year, with very
little returning members, we have over 3/4 of the
membership that are new to the program and new to
the shop environment. So we are going back to our
old ways, Mazz will train, we are limiting our
event attendance to focus on teaching the kids
how to build bikes. We had a rough start to the
year but it was cleansing and we now will have
better focus.

Betty Bobber Draw News

ON November 1, 2008 at Bernice MacNaughton High
School 999 St George Blvd Moncton, New Brunswick
at 2:00pm the draw for the raffle was held.

The draw became a 50/50 draw because, as per the
disclaimer on the ticket, less than 600 of the
1000 tickets were sold. Even with the decision
to lower that number, firs to 500 tickets and
then 400 tickets, not enough tickets were sold to
warrant giving the bike away.

James Gant of Miramichi, New Brunswick was the
winner and his prize was awared on November 5 in
Moncton. Number of tickets sold was 325.

We thank all who participated for your support.

Hey all, not sure how many of you actually read
this but it's been one heck of a long time since
I made an entry so here it goes!!

Since my last entry, We attended the Digby Wharf
Rat Rally and met Russell Mitchell of Exile
Cycles, we were actually part of his booth!!
Exile Cycles is a sponsor of ours.
We organized the Northeastern Custom Bike
Building Championships which was sanctioned by
the IMBBA. The show was a success from the
presentation and participant's point of view but
bad weather hindered attendence. Plus we didn't
recieve the donation promised by the show
backers. Some people even take advantage of kids
I guess.
We attended the Atlantic Nationals Hot Rod
Extravaganza, Canada's largest outdoor car show
and we got to meet Chip Foose.

We attended the Dutch Mason Blues Festival in
Truro Nova Scotia, showed Betty, who is now
finished by the way, and got to watch David
Wilcox and this wicked kid, Jimmy Bowskill, we
had a blast.

Next we are off to the Digby Wharf Rat Rally
again!!

Buy tickets on Betty!!!! only 1000 sold at $50
each!!

We packed up the Bobber, Justin's Custom Bicycle
and our Wendy Chopper bicycle and drove down to
Truro for the day on saturday, August 11.

The show promoter, David DeWolfe made sure we
were comfortable and had a huge booth in the
Biker Lifestyle tent, it was great!! The
response from the folks at the show was
incredible! We had a blast and all I can say is
that we should have been there all three days!!

Thanks to David and all the crew that made our
day so great!! Oh yeah, the music was kick ass
wikced!!

McKay's Creations

The Bike Club had a great honour on the way back
from our trip to Welland, Ontario. Bob McKay,
Canada's Chopper Godfather, invited the Bike Club
on a very special tour of his home and shop
outside of Kingston, Ontario.
Bob and Dianne were the most gracious hosts as
they showed us the shop and a most incredible
collection of bikes. We spent two and half hours
with the McKay's and talked bikes the whole time,
Bob showed us the progress on his CFL theme bike.
It was a cool experience and one of those life
long memories. Bob is our "at a distance" tech
advisor for the club, his vast knowledge and eye
for detail is a valuable asset to the club.

Thanks to Bob and Dianne.

Canadian Biker Build-Off 3

We travelled 1700kms by car and trailer to
Welland Ontario, just outside Niagra Falls to the
Canadian Biker Build-Off. We hung out with our
friends from Biker TV, Motorcycle Mojo and Custom
Bike Builders, Tim and Rob from Trick Factory.
The kids and I had a blast, we saw a bunch of
cool stuff and met some cool new folks. We went
into Niagra Falls and Clifton Hill, we took in
the Motorcycle Museum and generally had a great
time. From a fundraising point of view we only
raised 65$ but we got a few people interested in
helping us out with parts and services, I will
update once those come through.

Justin's parents Kenda and David Merrithew
deserves a hugh thank you for lending us their 99
Chevy Malibu for the trip and Rick Wood at
MyTFine Customs lent us the trailer so we would
like to thank Rick very much as well! You can
see helping out the club doesn't always
mean "money"!! The fight continues!!
